Parking lot next to the church in the village of Roštín.
From the church in the village of Roštín, we set off along the green tourist trail, which led us out of the village. We then continued along a pleasant dirt road towards the Chřiby ridge. We walked through the local area and entered the forest. Right at the beginning of the forest is the Roštín Chapel, next to which there is a spring of drinking water. We continued along a wide forest path. The green trail eventually turned off, and we began to climb uphill along a forest path. Fallen trees made the hike difficult in places. But for the children, it was more of an attraction. The climb in the second part was quite steep. Finally, we joined the red tourist trail on the ridge. There were quite a lot of tourists here. From the shelter, we soon reached the lookout tower itself. Next to it is a snack bar, where we bought a ticket and climbed up to the viewing platform. The view was great, the weather perfect.
After a short snack under the lookout tower, we headed back. We returned to the wide forest path and continued along the ridge following the red tourist trail. After 2 kilometers, we left the red trail and started descending along the yellow trail. In places, the descent was steeper, but nothing terrible. Finally, we reached a beautiful meadow with a great view of the surrounding area. We returned to the village of Roštín along a dirt road.
An ideal family trip to a beautiful lookout tower. However, there are some steep climbs along the route. But it's nothing too difficult. The entire route follows wide forest roads or paths. Technically simple, although we did have to climb over some fallen trees along the way. But that just added to the fun of the trip.
Behind the village of Roštín is the Studánka U Roštínské Kaple spring. Another place to replenish your fluids is the snack bar right next to the lookout tower.
The peak of Brdo, at 587 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in the entire Chřiby range. The observation tower offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding area.
This is an easy trip, with no exposed sections along the route. The only obstacles were fallen trees, which we had to either climb over or walk around. Otherwise, the route is safe.
There is a small snack bar right next to the lookout tower, but they mainly sell wafers and similar items. Therefore, it is a good idea to bring your own snacks.
The Brdo Lookout Tower stands on the hill of the same name, which is also the highest point in the entire Chřiby Mountains. Originally, there was a wooden lookout tower here, but it was decommissioned in the 1970s. The current lookout tower is approximately 24 meters high, and there are 99 steps leading up to the viewing platform. The platform is glassed in, which is an advantage in bad weather. Admission is paid at the snack bar - CZK 20 per person or CZK 50 per family. More information about the lookout tower
