Autumn trip from Vražkov to Mount Říp

Starting point

End of the village of Vražkov, we left the car at the beginning of the dirt road.
 

Description of the hike

Although the weather forecast was not favorable at all, we were not deterred and set off for Mount Říp while the beautiful autumn weather still lasted. We left the village following the yellow tourist trail, which leads along a dirt road. The route is essentially flat, so we were able to enjoy the beautiful colors of autumn at a leisurely pace. After entering the forest, the trail begins to climb. The real climb began after the Pod Řípem crossroads. In places it was really steep, and because it was wet, it was quite slippery. Finally, we climbed to the Prague viewpoint. It was incredibly windy, rain was approaching, but even so, the view was great.

From the lookout point, it is only a short distance to the very top of Mount Říp. Although the cottage was open, we did not linger because of the approaching rain. We walked to the rotunda at the top, took a few obligatory photos, and quickly started our return journey. The return was along the same route as the ascent. At the lookout point, we could clearly see the rain approaching. We quickly ran down the steepest section and then returned to the car. In the end, we got a few drops of rain, but it was nothing terrible.
 

Difficulty

An ideal trip for families with children. The route is not long, but it is not entirely easy either. In places, there are fairly steep climbs and you have to overcome an elevation gain of more than 200 meters. When wet, it can be quite slippery. However, the entire route follows a tourist trail.
 

Water availability

There is a tourist lodge at the top where you can get something to eat and drink.
 

Mountain peaks

There are several great viewpoints from Mount Říp. They are not at the very top, which is overgrown with trees. From the viewpoints, you can see the surrounding area, especially the České středohoří mountains to the north.
 

Danger

The trail can be slippery in wet conditions in the second section below Pražská vyhlídka. There is also a slightly rocky section here. Otherwise, the trail is safe.
 

Food

Refreshments are available at the Říp chalet at the summit. Otherwise, a small snack will suffice, as the route is short.
