Parking lot outside the village of Klentnice. Parking costs 50 CZK per day.
From the parking lot, we set off along a dirt road past some gardens. One of them had a snack bar, which was open. However, we decided to stop there on our way back. Along the way, we climbed into the forest, where we joined the hiking trail. Following it, we continued up the path to the rocks where Sirotčí Castle is located. We walked around the rocks and reached the castle ruins. From there, there are beautiful views of the entire Pálava region and its surroundings.
From the castle, we descended to the saddle. There is also a soccer field here. Another climb followed, this time up Stolová hora. The ascent is steeper in places, but it’s nothing too demanding. Following a wide path, we reached the broad summit of Stolová hora. The views are once again fantastic; on a clear day, you can even see the Alps. We began our return along the edge of the mountain. We descended to the saddle following the yellow hiking trail. We then joined the red trail and, passing beneath the ruins of Sirotčí Castle, made our way back to the parking lot. On the way, we stopped briefly at a snack bar above the parking lot.
A short and easy hike, perfect for families. There are some uphill sections, but nothing too strenuous. The route mostly follows trails or wide paths. The terrain is slightly rocky around Sirotčí hrádek.
A refreshment stand is usually open on weekends along the path above the parking lot, heading toward Sirotčí Castle. Otherwise, it’s a good idea to bring your own water.
From Stolová hora (459 m above sea level), there are magnificent views not only of Pálava and its surroundings, but on a clear day, you can even see the Alps, such as Schneeberg.
The trail itself is free of technical difficulties. The only place where you need to keep a close eye on children is the ruins of Sirotčí Castle.
The snack bar is located above the parking lot, where they serve french fries and other delicious treats.
