Easy hike with small children along the red trail from Ostravice

Starting point

The trip starts in Ostravice, which is also the starting point for the ascent to Lysá hora along the red trail. There is a train from Frýdek-Místek to Ostravice. Or you can use the paid parking lot (about 100 CZK for half a day of parking) right at the starting point of the red sign.

Description of the hike

From Ostravice we follow the red trail across the Ostravice River towards Lysá hora. The asphalt road climbs gently between houses and cottages in Ostravice. Shortly before the crossing of five asphalt paths and roads, you can turn left to a beautiful viewpoint from which you can see Skalka 964 m above sea level, Ondřejník 890 m above sea level and Smrk 1 276 m above sea level.

After a short rest with a view, continue along the red trail past the Sepetná restaurant and hotel to the Opičárna mountain rope centre, where you can tire your children even more. Shortly after Opičárna, we continue to the Hotel Sluníčko, where there was a children's day with various attractions on the 1st of May, which we like to take advantage of.

From Sluníčko after lunch we continue back to Ostravice still following the red mark. Again, the path leads along the asphalt road between the cottages to road 56, which leads directly to Ostravice - it is less than a kilometre back to the car park.

Difficulty

It is a completely easy hike on asphalt and paved forest roads. Since the whole route is actually in the built-up area of cottages and settlements, there is no wildlife. There are no steep gradients or exposed areas. Even 4-year-old children can easily manage the trip. A classic stroller will pass the route without any problems.

Water availability

It is enough to have 0.5 litres of water per person, because there are various refreshment options both at the starting point and on the route, e.g. hotel Sluníčko or hotel Sepetná.

Mountain peaks

We will not climb any peaks on this route. It is only a circular route in the foothills of Lysá hora.

Danger

The route is really quite safe. There are no belay elements, no exposed places. The trail goes only in gentle ascent and descent mostly on asphalt or paved forest road.

Food

You can eat and drink both in Ostravice and then on the route in the hotel Sepetná or Sluníčko. In Ostravice I recommend the COKAFE boarding point, where they always have great coffee and also something good to drink.
