Autumn trip to the lookout tower U Lidušky

Starting point

Parking lot at the sokolovna in the village of Bílovice nad Svitavou. There is also a railway station not far from the parking lot, so it is possible to use the train from Brno.

Description of the hike

Due to the great autumn weather we decided to take a trip to a relatively new lookout tower in the Moravian Karst. We drove by car to Bílovice nad Svitavou, where we found a place to park at the sokolovna, where there is also a pub. It was already full of tourists and cyclists. From the sokolovna we set off along the asphalt road, which also has a tourist sign. We refilled water in the Leoš Janáček well and continued along the path to a small water reservoir. Here we turned sharply to the right and left the marked path. Further on, however, there is a wide forest path that leads to the lookout tower.

However, we decided to walk through the woods as well, so we soon turned onto the forest trail and continued up it to the lookout tower. Below the lookout tower we rejoined the wide path and followed it to the lookout tower itself. The views were great, not a cloud in the sky. After a short rest and a snack we headed back to Bílovice. This time we did not go through the forest, but comfortably along a wide road that led us back to the car.

Difficulty

A simple hike ideal for families with small children. There is a wide path leading up to the lookout tower, so it is possible to go with a stroller. The elevation on the route is small and the total length of the trip is short.

Water availability

The Leoš Janáček Well is located about 500 metres from the Sokol Hall. Here you can refill your fluids. Or, of course, in the pub in the sokolovna in Bílovice nad Svitavou.

Mountain peaks

The lookout tower is located on a nameless hill at an altitude of 336 m above sea level. The views of the Moravian Karst and to the south are beautiful.

Danger

This is a perfectly safe route, ideal for families with children. The whole time you walk on a wide path, there is no danger.

Food

You can refresh yourself in the pub in the sokolovna in Bílovice nad Svitavou.

Attractions

Lookout tower U Lidušky is a new lookout tower above Bílovice nad Svitavou. It was opened in October 2021. The height of the lookout tower is about 30 metres, the observation platform is 26 metres high, with 131 steps leading up to it. It is a metal lookout tower, freely open all year round.

The name of the lookout tower refers to the story of a young child who was abandoned in the woods by his mother in distress. Friends, including Rudolf Těsnohlídek, found the little girl and rescued her. Rudolf Těsnohlídek then decided to help children in similar situations and founded a pre-Christmas collection to help children, which then spread throughout the country.
